Privacy policy
How Spool & Slice handles information. Effective September 1, 2026.
Who we are
Spool & Slice is published by Slate Mill Group. You can reach us at info@spoolandslice.com or through the contact form.
What we collect
When you read the site
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. It collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and referring site. Google Analytics sets cookies or similar identifiers to do this.
We also record when a buy link is clicked, as an analytics event containing the destination retailer, the product where known, and the page the click came from. This tells us which recommendations people find useful. It does not identify you.
When you use the contact form
The form collects the name, email address, subject and message you enter. That message is emailed to us so we can reply. We keep it for as long as needed to handle the correspondence.
The form records the moment it loaded in your browser and includes a hidden field that real visitors never fill in. Both are used only to reject automated spam submissions. We also apply a short-term submission limit per network address for the same purpose.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not run an advertising network or third-party ad tracking.
- We do not have user accounts, so there is nothing to sign into.
- We do not send marketing email. There is no newsletter and no mailing list.
- We do not use a captcha service, so no third-party captcha vendor receives data about you.
Affiliate links
Buy links on this site pass through a redirect on our own domain and then to Amazon, carrying an affiliate tracking tag. Amazon uses that tag to attribute a purchase to us, and Amazon's own privacy policy governs what happens once you arrive on their site. We receive aggregate earnings reports from Amazon and never see who bought what.
The full arrangement is described on our affiliate disclosure page.
Third parties involved
- Google Analytics — site analytics, as described above.
- Amazon — affiliate link destination and purchase attribution.
- Microsoft — delivers contact form messages to our inbox.
- Our hosting provider — serves the site and keeps standard server logs.
Cookies
The site itself does not set cookies for its own purposes. Google Analytics sets cookies or similar identifiers as described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and browser extensions that block analytics will prevent the analytics script loading at all. Nothing on this site requires cookies to work.
Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. The only personal information we normally hold is the content of a message you sent us. Email info@spoolandslice.com and we will act on the request.
To opt out of Google Analytics across all sites, Google publish a browser add-on for that purpose. Blocking analytics does not affect your use of this site in any way.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.
Security and retention
The site is served over HTTPS. Contact form messages travel to our inbox and are retained only as long as the correspondence requires. Because we run no user accounts and store no customer records, there is very little data here to protect in the first place, which is deliberate.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above changes with it. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
