Affiliate disclosure

This site makes money when you buy something through our links. Here is exactly how that works, what it does not influence, and how to buy elsewhere if you prefer.

How the links work

Every buy button on this site points at /go/ followed by a retailer name. That is a redirect on our own domain which attaches our Amazon Associates tracking tag and sends you to the retailer. It exists so that a retailer link can be changed in one place rather than edited across dozens of pages.

Practically, for you:

About the prices you see

Prices are never typed into an article. They are fetched from the retailer on a schedule and rendered from that data, with a hard freshness limit: any price older than 48 hours stops rendering entirely and the button reverts to “check price”.

Two consequences worth stating. First, a price shown here is dated on the page — check the date, and check the retailer, because prices move faster than any site can follow. Second, this site frequently shows no price at all, which is intended: a stale number is worse than no number because a reader acts on it.

What the commission does not influence

  1. Which products appear. Products are chosen for the job the page is about.
  2. What order they appear in. Ranking follows the scoring rubric on the methodology page, which contains no commission term.
  3. What score they get.
  4. What we say about them. Every roundup names something to skip, and several pages here tell you not to buy the thing the page is about.

Two concrete examples, because a policy nobody can check is not worth much. Our where to buy filament page tells you to buy from a physical store when it is cheaper, which costs us the commission. Our is resin printing worth it page tells a substantial share of readers not to buy a resin printer at all, and suggests a print service instead.

What we do not accept

The full set of rules is on the editorial policy page.

Other affiliate programs

At present Amazon is the only affiliate program this site participates in. Other retailers and brands are linked where they are the right destination for a reader — a manufacturer's own data sheet, for example — and those links earn us nothing.

If that changes, this page changes with it. A program we have joined will be named here before any link to it earns a commission.

The required statement

Spool & Slice is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

If you would rather not use our links

That is completely fine and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. Search for the product name directly, or buy it from a local store. The information on this site does not change either way, and none of it is gated behind a click.
