Spool & Slice

All guides

The explainers and settings pages, grouped by section. These are the pages that answer a question rather than recommend a product, though most carry picks where a purchase genuinely helps.

Looking for a recommendation instead? Every section hub carries its own ranked table — start at the master material ledger if you are not sure which material you need, or the site index for the complete list of pages.

PLA

The material most of your prints will be. Which spool, what it costs, and where it stops being the right answer.

PETG

Tougher than PLA, fussier to tune, and the default for anything that lives outdoors or gets handled.

Guide

Is PETG food safe?

The polymer is not the problem. Layer lines, nozzle material and additives are, and none is solved by buying a different spool.

Specialty & Engineering

ABS, ASA, TPU, nylon and carbon fiber composites — what each one actually requires from your printer.

Resin

Photopolymer resin for detail work, with the safety and cleanup requirements stated up front rather than buried.

Drying & Storage

The per-material humidity and drying ledger, and the gear that keeps a spool usable for years instead of weeks.

Nozzles, Plates & Consumables

The repeat-buy basket: nozzles, build surfaces, adhesion, tubing and the resin cleanup kit.

Cost

Price per kilogram, cost per print, and whether cheap filament is actually cheaper once failures are counted.
