Overture is the budget brand with the widest reliably stocked color range and a published diameter tolerance. The catch is that it is plain PLA, so it is more brittle on impact than the PLA+ grades that cost the same.

What you get

Overture publishes a 1.75 mm diameter with a stated +/- 0.02 mm tolerance and ships vacuum sealed with a desiccant pack. Both of those are meaningful commitments at this price. The spool you open is the spool you were sold, and the brand is willing to state a number it can be held to — which most budget brands are not.

The color range is the genuine differentiator. Overture keeps a wide catalog in stock consistently, which matters more than it sounds: matching a color you printed six months ago is a common and frustrating problem, and stock consistency is the only thing that solves it.

The catch

This is plain PLA. Not PLA+, not a toughened compound. In practice that means it is more brittle on impact than SUNLU PLA+ or eSUN PLA+, which cost roughly the same. For display prints and geometry that never gets handled, that difference is invisible. For a bracket, a clip or anything that will be dropped, it is the difference between a part that survives and a part that does not.

The second thing worth knowing is that some colors ship on cardboard spools. Cardboard sheds fibrous dust that ends up in the extruder drive gear. It is not a disaster and it is easy to clean, but it is a maintenance item you do not have with a plastic spool.

Printing it

It sits comfortably in the middle of Prusa's published PLA window of 185 to 235 C at the nozzle and 50 to 60 C at the bed Prusa Research. A generic PLA profile works. There is nothing unusual to tune, which is exactly what you want from a spool you buy in quantity.

Overture also publish their own drying guidance for filament that has been stored badly, and their figures for PLA sit slightly above Prusa's at 50 C for seven hours Overture. What it does well

Is Overture PLA the same as Overture PLA Professional?

Overture sells several PLA lines and the naming has changed over time. The Professional line is the one with the published tolerance and the vacuum-sealed packaging, and it is what this review covers. Check the listing for the stated tolerance rather than the name.

Should I buy Overture PLA or SUNLU PLA+?

Buy Overture if the specific color matters or if you need to reorder the same color later. Buy SUNLU PLA+ if the part will be handled or dropped, because the toughened grade genuinely survives impact better at the same price.
